IT WAS HOT IN THE UPPER PENINSULA

Our plan to circumnavigate Michigan went without a hitch.  One thing's for certain, I'm glad I put the oil cooler on the bike.  It was terribly hot when we weren't on the coast of one of the Great Lakes.

Our first day in the wind took us all the way to the thumb of Michigan to Port Austin.  Between there and Port Huron we were beginning to wonder if we were going to find a place to stay. Above Port Huron there is nothing but closed motels and shops and even some small towns were seemingly abandoned.  It was good to finally make it to Port Austin.

Our journey across the Macinaw bridge was pretty cool.  One hears of how high the thing is and it turns out to be not as high as (fearful as) one imagines.

Now we're in Michigan's  Upper Peninsula.  Enjoy the pics from there and our return trip home as we follow the lower west Michigan coastlines.

The ride was a blast.  Stay tuned for our next journey through New England. This will be an "extended" trip so we should have a lot more pictures to share.
